Barbara’s Ministry Experience

Barb had a friend in high school who invited her to attend Bethany Church in Long Beach, Ca. Barb did not grow up in church and after her junior year in high school she went to Hume Lake Christian Camp and it was there that she committed her life to the Lord. Barb’s youth pastor at church was John Coulombe. He had a summer event called Travel Camp. He talked her into going and it was life changing. Through these events the Lord started Barb on a 53 year adventure of ministry opportunities.

She attended Cypress College & Biola University. At Bethany Church she taught and discipled Junior High and High School students for several years. Also helped create day camp programs, managed the backstage in all the musical productions, and was the church Wedding Coordinator. A few years later Barb joined the staff as Women’s Ministry Director.

Barb’s husband Keith Wells was the Minister of Music at Bethany Church, Long Beach for 40 years. Ministry is what they loved doing together. In 2019 they moved to Tennessee to be by their daughter, son-in-law and their two granddaughters. Their son is a Marine Biologist and has lived all over the world and presently resides in Santa Cruz, California. Having been born and raised in Southern California living in Tennessee has been a whole new journey, the Lord has been so faithful. A few neighbors and Barb have started a neighborhood Bible Study. It’s been such a blessing. Along with ministry opportunities Barb enjoys any kind of arts and crafts, decorating and hoping this fall to start a new venture/pickleball.
