Dave & Barb’s Ministry Experience

Dave came to faith as a child in Sunday School led by a godly woman who went on to be a missionary in the Ivory Coast of Africa. Barb came to the Lord at age 7 and both sets of their parents were active in a variety of ministries in their teenage years. Youth for Christ was a major involvement for Dave giving him the opportunity to learn about and experience ministry. Dave started a YFC Club in his high school and was able to lead other kids in developing YFC high school clubs throughout the state of Colorado. Dave traveled with the YFC staff in singing and sharing the Word in a variety of churches. Barb and Dave have sung duets together since college days and have shared music in a variety of venues. They are involved with their adult Sunday school class in providing music each Sunday. Barb is involved with women’s ministry with events and Bible studies Our counseling ministry has been focused on marriage. We have done premarital and post marital mentoring. Dave is ordained and has performed weddings and funeral services. Dave and Barb’s most recent focus has been ministering to people in their time of loss and grief. They have also added the ministry of handing out gospel tracts almost daily and engaging people with God’s Word most everywhere they go.

Dave and Barb have two adult children and their spouses, with 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren
are an ongoing joy and testimony of God’s goodness. One grandchild is a missionary in Mexico. Another is in the business to serve pastors throughout the country with their financial planning. Dave and Barb’s son and daughter-in-law have been called to adoption of foreign children, 5 from China and 2 from the Ukraine. Two of these precious children have Spina Bifida.

All twelve of their grandchildren and the three great grandchildren are a tremendous blessing and addition to their lives. As Dave and Barb are experiencing grand parenting it has added a whole new world of blessing and learning.

Dave’s business background consists of Barb growing up on an airport with her dad as manager and having a flying service and airplane repair shop. Dave’s family has always been in the automotive business with emphasis on performance and racing. Since the 1930’s they have had a manufacturing company, a chain of retail auto part stores with a warehouse distribution to six states. Also included was a machine shop and installation facility.

Dave’s family did automobile racing in a variety of venues, such as the Pikes Peak Hill Climb and drag racing. These involvements along with concern to stop street racing and provide a place to share the love of Jesus and His message led to the creation of Bandimere Speedway in 1958. Bandimere Speedway is a National Hot Rod Drag racing venue and multi event facility. The joy of such a place allowed for major youth outreach events, Easter sunrise services and ongoing Chapel services with on-site chaplains to counsel and evangelize.
