Greg & Laura’s Ministry Experience

Greg found faith during high school through a family who showed him the love of Christ as he spent time around them. That family, along with believing high school friends helped him understand the rich, personal love of Christ. Laura came to faith in her early college years through relationships at work and with those in the Cru ministry.

Greg’s ministry years began with Cru involvement in college and then six years on Cru staff. Greg and Laura married while on staff. They left Cru so Greg could attend Talbot School of Theology. After seminary Greg pastored at Bethany Church of Long Beach in varied roles as families pastor, interim executive pastor and the last 20 years there as Lead Pastor. Laura also served on the staff in a variety of outreach and assimilation roles. Serving God’s kingdom at Bethany was rich and meaningful. Greg and Laura saw many, many conversions across all ages and life stages. The church was privileged with a large staff, a growing school ministry, healthy missions and continued influence in the community. In 2012, after thirty one years serving at Bethany, Greg and Laura sensed they needed a new voice. They left, not knowing what exactly they were to do next.

Greg and Laura’s transition to new areas of service occurred over the next several months. Laura began attending Talbot and during the following three years earned a Master’s Degree in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care. She serves as a Spiritual Director meeting with people from a variety of ministries and roles. Greg began to pursue the opportunity to coach and encourage pastors of all ages and experience. Fishbowl Ministries provided the perfect place to shepherd, strengthen and influence those serving God’s Kingdom.

Greg joined the Fishbowl staff in April 2013. Greg was blessed to learn from existing staff. Greg has also appreciated the unique ways the Lord has opened doors for ministry. Greg has enjoyed encouraging a wide variety of shepherds at the church they attend, Greg has visited a variety of churches and built relationships with their pastors. Greg has also been privileged to build relationships with seminary professors and sit in some different seminary classes and meet students as they learn to faithfully serve God’s kingdom. Fishbowl is a wonderful environment to encourage and strengthen God’s Kingdom.

Greg and Laura have two adult daughters, one adult son, a wonderful son in law and two amazing grandchildren. They are blessed that all live in the area.
